Process Navigator Automation Behaviour is Missing

Symptoms

  • When a Visio process map is opened, progress windows that are expected to be displayed, usually below the main drawing window, are missing.
  • NOTE: Their display is configurable from the Mapping Options dialog, but it is enabled by default.

  • Right-click on a shape, selecting Properties... fails to display the Properties dialog.
  • The behaviours described in this article have an adverse effect on the publication mechanism. Users may see that their process maps are publishing but properties of the Node are not updating, for example Approval and Review properties. If this is the case there is a strong possibility that Visio is able to export to HTML but is failing to process Load Time Actions that are added to the files by Triaster Process Navigator.

Possible Causes

  1. Macros Settings may be set to disable macros; only applicable if you are using a VDX or VSDM file format.
  2. VBA may not be enabled; only applicable if you are using a VDX or VSDM file format.
  3. A Visio file was opened that is not recognised as a Process Navigator file (a VSD, perhaps).
  4. The load behaviour of the Process Navigator Visio add-in is not set appropriately.
  5. The Process Navigator Visio add-in has been disabled.
  6. Details unknown, but related to the user's Visio profile.
  7. Details unknown, but related to the Process Navigator installation.
  8. The wrong version of Process Navigator has been installed. Please see our Software Download page for more information.

Solution 1

To set the Macros Security, please see Setting Up Visio.

Solution 2

Trust access to the VBA project object model

To ensure that 'Trust access to the VBA project object model' is enabled, please see Setting Up Visio.

Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) not installed

If VBA isn't installed, the symptoms and resolution may be as described here.

Solution 3

Ensure that the file you have opened is a Process Navigator file and not just a Visio drawing (.vsd).

Solution 4

Reset the load behaviour of the 'Mapping Edition In-Process Wrapper' add-in. See Dealing with the Mapping Edition In-Process Wrapper.

Solution 5

Re-enable the 'Mapping Edition In-Process Wrapper' add-in.See Dealing with the Mapping Edition In-Process Wrapper.

Solution 6

Recreate the user's Visio profile, see Recreating a User's Visio Profile.

Solution 7

Run a repair installation on Process Navigator.

  1. Ensure you are logged on with Administrative privileges.
  2. Windows 7: Click Start > Control Panel.
Windows 10: Click Start > Windows System > Control Panel.
  3. In Control Panel, open 'Programs and Features' (or the equivalent).
  4. Right-click 'Process Navigator' > 'Repair'.
  5. Run the repair install.
  6. Close all dialogs and Control Panel.
